The Great Gran and Grandad Couch Flop
BAILEY: Right, so, a big day happened at Gran and Grandadās. There was sniffing. SO much sniffing. The whole backyard, corner to corner, not one blade of grass left unchecked.
By the end of it, one of us was so completely finished that they just⦠melted onto the couch. Flat on the back. Belly out. Legs everywhere. Head flopped back like someone had switched off all the batteries at once.
I wonāt say who. Mostly because I genuinely cannot remember if it was me or Maggie. Thatās how big the day was. Memory: also switched off.
Whoever it was had the good sense to do it on the fancy pink blanket too, which really pulled the whole outfit together. Very dramatic. Very āI have given everything I have to this backyard and I have nothing left.ā
Gran and Grandadās couch is a top couch, by the way. Big, dark, leathery, very good for maximum sprawl. Thereās a tasselly green cushion in the corner that I personally think is just there for decoration, but who knows, maybe itās secretly comfortable too. Didnāt get the full investigation done that day, on account of the sleeping.
No humans in the shot, which means whoever was asleep was doing it properly, no audience required. Just pure, committed, star-fish-on-the-couch dog sleep.
I like to think it was me, because I do love a good stretch-out. But Maggieās no slouch either when it comes to backyard sniffing marathons. Weāll call it a draw and both take the credit.
Either way: big day, big nap, big win.
- maggie Draw accepted. But I'm keeping the pink blanket.
